Cuppa's in New South Wales

 Ashford NSW

NEVAT Cafe
35 Albury St
Ashford NSW 2361

.....just north of the city of Inverell.

There is a little cafe in Northern NSW at a tiny town called Ashford where every cup of coffee sold goes directly to helping others. The Cafe was created to raise funds to keep the Free Air Service operational.....in fact the NEVAT Cafe dedicates every dollar raised there to a wonderful group who fly people free of charge to medical services in major centres.

The Cafe is manned monday to friday by Volunteers and  is also NEVAT's permanent Headquarters. Mark it on your map if you are touring that way!

Nabiac NSW

A place of wonderment and a journey to places you want to be. Greenhouse Cottage is a gem of an eatery that gives a relaxed and majestic feel.

Nabiac is a town that I am sure many miss as they zoom along the highway, not taking the time to divert and visit a little town they feel would not have much to offer. If ever in the area make sure you take the time to make Nabiac your rest, revive, survive stop and call into the Greenhouse Cottage. This is by far the best cafe I have visited at this stage of my trip.

When you visit the Greenhouse Cottage you take your mind, body and soul on a journey that you would not expect to find in a small town. Your tastebuds will be tantalized as you experience what surely must be the best coffee for miles. On my first visit I was amazed at the softness to the palette and silky smooth texture of my cappuccino. The froth was of a consistency that just melted in my mouth. It seemed to float upon the top of the coffee at just the right thickness. I was so impressed I felt a need to return to have 'just one more' and found that the coffee used is that of Organic Merlo, a flavour I will be hunting in times to come.

The presentation of my coffee was simple but exquisite. I ordered a mugaccino and was presented, on both occasions, with a retro fashionable mug on a saucer that fitted the mood.

Greenhouse Cottage is a place to relax and dream. As I relaxed on the red retro armchair with my baby girl playing with the toys situated in the toy box beside me I dreamt of places I would like to be. The plants, bric a brac, painting and items that surrounded me took me to a mediteranian island far, far away were peace was a haven and the coffee kept flowing. A place were I was at one with myself, the music in the air mingling with my relaxed thoughts, not so loud that it interfered.

My eldest children also relaxed as they enjoyed a hot chocolate on the first occasion and an iced chocolate on the second. Served in a tall glass mug the comments on the hot chocolate were those of " soft and creamy" and " just perfect". The ice chocolate had the eyes light up as they were served a tall glass that was presented with plenty of swirling soft cream and chocolate syrup to impress the taste buds. Even my three year old managed to get through her large iced chocolate. To top off our amazing drinks we offered our taste buds a try of the Rocky Road and again were not disappointed - not too sweet and just the right size to keep one satisfied.  Greenhouse Cottage also serve main meals which I am sure we will try in the near future - but who needs an excuse to have yet another coffee!
